Pregnancy comes with a lot of questions. Some are big, others are very small. Sometimes you leave an appointment thinking you understood everything, only to realise later that you still have questions. Sometimes you simply want to talk something through before your next appointment.

And when you are having a baby in a country that is not your own, there can be an extra layer to all of this. The language, the healthcare system, the way things are organised, even the things that seem completely normal to others can be new to you.

That's where I can help.

More than information and advice

As a midwife, my role is not only to give information or help you understand the Italian maternity system.

I also provide care.

During pregnancy, that means looking at how you are doing — physically and emotionally — and making space for the questions, worries and changes that come with pregnancy. It also means involving your partner, because they are part of this experience too.

After the birth, that care continues.

The first weeks with a baby can be beautiful, but they can also be tiring, confusing and very different from what you imagined. I can support you with your recovery, your confidence as new parents and the practical things that come with caring for a newborn.

This can include support with breastfeeding and feeding choices, newborn care, your physical recovery and the normal changes of the early postpartum period.

And if something doesn't feel right, I can help you recognise when you need to contact your doctor, paediatrician or another healthcare professional.
 

Professional support, in English

When you are living in another country, being able to speak to a professional in your own language can make a real difference.

You should be able to ask questions, talk openly about your pregnancy and understand the information you are given without having to worry about whether something was lost in translation.

As an English-speaking midwife, I offer professional midwifery care in English, while helping you understand and navigate the Italian maternity system around you.

My aim is not to make every decision feel easy or to tell you exactly what will happen.

It is to help you feel informed, prepared and confident in your own pregnancy and in the choices you make.

A midwife you can come back to

As your midwife, I get to know you and your pregnancy over time.

I know what you have already discussed, what questions you have had, what is important to you and what you are still figuring out. So when something comes up, you don't always have to start from the beginning.

You can ask me about something you have been wondering about, prepare for an appointment, talk through your options or simply check whether something you are experiencing is within the range of normal.

My role is not to make the decisions for you. It is to give you the information, care and space you need to make them yourself.

Making things a little clearer

I know that maternity care in Italy can feel confusing when you are not familiar with it.

Which appointments do you need?
What is the role of the consultorio?
What does a particular test mean?
What can you expect at the hospital?
What are your options when it comes to birth and pain relief?

You don't need to figure all of that out on your own.

I can help you understand how things work here, while also making sure there is room for your own expectations and preferences.

Because your pregnancy doesn't suddenly become less personal just because you are navigating a different healthcare system.
